There are many easy ways to get from the Roanoke Regional Airport to The Inn at Virginia Tech on the VT campus in Blacksburg--from a scheduled bus service to rental cars to airport limos and taxis. All the companies below asked that you call ahead to reserve space. (The bus, too, so they would know to expect more people and perhaps increase the number of buses.)

SMARTWAY BUS:

The price is $3.00 EXACT FARE.

 

The Smartway Bus is a bus that leaves at scheduled times (see attached schedule or go to (http://www.smartwaybus.com/smart_schedules.htm) from the Roanoke Airport and would drop you off at the Squires Student Center on Virginia Tech Campus. It will not drop you off at the Inn at Virginia Tech (which is about 1/2 mile away across campus); however, you can try to arrange with The Inn for them to send a van to pick you up from Squires and take you and your luggage to the hotel. (We have asked, and the Inn said they would work with guests to arrange such pickups from Squires.)

 

The website for the Inn at Virginia Tech is: (http://www.innatvirginiatech.com/). I will send the number to call for this service early next week. (Everyone has left for the weekend now!)

 

Please call the SmartWay bus in advance to give them a heads up in case they need to send more than one bus due to increased passenger load.

I called for an estimate for a base price of an economy car no additional insurance. (I.e., you provide your own auto insurance) for picking up noon June 1 and returning on noon June 5. Please call to both confirm rates and reserve a car.

Hertz: 540/ 366-3421 4 day rental approximately $109
